There are more than 400 types of prunus so it’s tricky to pick a favourite, but if you fancy bringing a little bit of spring glamour into your home, why not just pick a few tall stems on their own in a long vase for a sculptural blossom feature.

Alternatively, prunus works really well to create form in a large mixed bouquet or you could just go the whole hog and plan a Spring wedding or event, then you can use it in abundance with its arches and boughs fully laden for a real show-stopper.

To care for prunus, woody stems are best cut on a very sharp angle, followed by a vertical cut into the stem at the bottom. The split angled stem can then take on as much water as possible.
