Our adventures in floristry...

Smith and Munson

Last week before Brexit was extended I was really concerned about flower supply. A silver lining to the debacle motivated us to start sourcing more stems from British flower suppliers.

This year we consciously decided to include more Spring flowers in our Mother's Day bouquets which made sourcing more British flowers easier as they are naturally in or coming in to season right now, especially plentiful given this year we didn’t have snow in Spring!

We have sweet peas coming from Sussex which feature in our Stepping into Spring and English Garden arrangements.  We have narcissi from Cornwall where I’ll be heading just as soon as Mother's Day is over to get myself back together! We also have 500 stems of British Senecio foliage (a favourite at Catkin) being freshly cut as I type.

For me though, the most exciting development is our new relationship with SMITH & MUNSON - a fifth generation family grower in South Lincolnshire. They specialise in beautiful varieties of tulips and lilies too. On Valentine's Day we introduced a new range of single stems which were very popular, so we thought it would be nice to offer something similar for Mother's Day featuring only the gorgeous Smith & Munson tulips.
