Cornflowers

Cornflowers

Centaurea cyanus from Asteraceae family
Batchelor's buttons commonly known as The Cornflower, in folklore worn by young men in love and if they faded to quickly it was deemed a sign of lost love.  They can be effective in treating conjunctivitis and used as a wash for tired eyes. Many Wintonians know it is the school flower of Winchester College. For Catkins, it marks the moment of late spring and the arrival of Ascot, when many of our customers wear a single stem on their lapel attempting to rival the magnificent stem adorned by Prince Charles each year.

We love cornflowers for the naturalistic meadow feel they add to our arrangements, they are particularly beautiful when mixed Ammi Majus or any of the wispy grasses. On mass as a bunch or a whole wrap they create a striking blue haze reminiscent to them growing wild in the countryside.

Order by the stem, by the bunches of 10 stems or buy a whole wrap
